i just purchased a hp dv6675us notebook, the spec are following.

Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 and 2.0GHz Processor
250GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive SATA
4096MB DDR2 memory for multitasking power
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS graphics card Video Memory 895MB (128MB Dedicated)

i wonder if i can transfer some of system's memory to the video card, if possible can anyone explain me how.

Im wondering how to transfer physical memory to the graphics memory using an 8600m gs... i dont see anything in the bios.

I don't believe so, but, if you can, it will be through your bios settings. Hit F-10 while booting up. I have a milder GPU (the Nvidia 7150M), and it does have 3 settings under bios, 32mb/64mb/128mb

Yep, I kind of didn't think so. The 7150M is a purely integrated graphics solution, so all video memory is just system memory...I believe (not 100% sure) that the 8400GS is a discrete graphics chip with the 128mb memory actually being true "video memory"...even my 128mb "dedicated" video memory is just a frame-buffer of system memory. (If I am mistaken, I trust someone here will correct me?)

The 8400GS really is not a "bad" graphics solution as notebooks go...granted not on par with the higher-end video cards, but at least a reasonable DX 10, shader 4, gpu! Of course, as I am not a "gamer", even the 7150M works for me, so the 8400GS from my perspective really looks good! At any rate, I do not think that there is much that you can do to "bump" that up any more, aside of keeping up with the latest drivers...

Total Available Graphics Memory: 895MB
Decicated Video Memory: 128MB
System Video Memory: 0MB
Shared System Memory 767MB

anyone know what that mean?

OK, yes that does clear something up. Total available Graphics Memory is the combination of set aside video memory plus how much more system memory that may be shared.

This tells me that your graphics are integrated...the 0 System Memory means that there is not any discrete (separate) Video System memory.

The 128mb "dedicated" Video Memory, is just a frame buffer, memory that is still derived from the System memory (your main bank of DDR2 memory).

The "problem" with that, is that even that 128mb dedicated memory is slower access than if it was memory directly "wired" to the GPU.

Nothing to be done about that, it is what it is. Still, the 8400M GS is by no means a terrible video solution, just not "high-end"...but there is no way to improve on it.
