haha I know how you feel, when I was getting my replacement about a year ago I was checking their website basically every hour at the least partially because I didn't want to let it out of their hands with the x1400 in there rather than the 7900GS. I hope your system is kick ass man
I would use dell chat, talk to customer care. I informed them that I use my xps for work, and without the system it is affecting my productivity. Hence I may not be able to work over the weekends as needed. Tell them to please review your entire case and to expedite the process as quickly as possible. As always be polite but firm. If you still don’t get a response, ask for the supervisor. Then explain everything to the supervisor, especially what you expect in return.
All in all my replacement process has been going smooth(knock on wood). I was issued a replacement starting 12/27/2007 after a 10 hour call. I called dell 3 days later on 12/30/2007 to see if there was an update(none). Called again after being assured I would receive contact after 3 day on status on 01/02/2008. Then I received part information on 01/02/2008.
Hope all goes well!<o></o>
I was able to get a hold of Dell. The business I work for is a Dell Solution Provider, so I emailed our contact and he was able to expedite my issue for me. Next he said that there are some E1705's in the Dell outlet say they may be thinking about sending me one of those. I swear they better not. I have had nothing but problems with my laptop and I really dont want the same model. I guess we will see what happens. He also said that since I must have a DVI port that might slow the process a bit and also since I need to have an upgraded video card as well since I had a 7800 and now a 7900 that was upgraded by dell my new system will have to have an upgraded video card over the norm for that model. Also he said he would call me on tues with an update. This is gonna be one long weekend lol.
I also have an E1705 and have had problems since the beginning: new mobo, new speakers, new battery, new dvdrw, new lcd, 3 new ac adapters. I do not have the geforce card, and have the x1400. If I were to get a new laptop, could I just not demand the new xps instead of the new inspiron since their is no dvi thus making it impossible for it to be equal? It seems logical they would have to send you a XPS. I am just waiting until I see no more e1705's in stock ever on the outlet page.
Well today was an interesting day. I get to work and start to get ready for the day so I check my email, nothing from Dell yet. So I went to my account to see if there might be anything there. To my surprise there was. I was like wow something is finally getting done and I click on the order number to see the specs of my replacement system. By the time the page finally loads I see the dreaded numbers of "1720". WTF goes through my mind as I have told them many times that I must have a dvi port. So I call up my rep who is handling the system exchange for me. I tell him what happened and hes all " So they really sent you a 1720 even though I specifically told them not to?" Yes I tell him and also explain that I am very upset with how this is being handled and how my time is being wasted. He replies with "Well this is just unacceptable. I will go ahead and take care of this myself. I gave them a chance to do this and if this is gonna be how they will handle it then I will just do it myself and not give them a chance to fix it." I was like umm ok so what does that mean. He said he would just order the system for me and it would be all done right then. I asked, "Then what system will I be getting?" "M1730 is the only system that makes sense at this point." he replies with. I was like sweet tyvm. So we hang up and im hitting F5 like a mad man to see the system config. As soon as I see it he calls me up to see what I think. I was very pleased and glad he did something to make me a happy customer. Here is the system config he gave me:
