ATI mobility driver for the HD 2400XT video card (TM 6592)

Where do I find a mobility driver for my Acer TravelMate 6592 with a HD 2400XT video card?

The one on Acers site is acting weird.
I get no additional tabs under Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced.
(so no way to manage tv out, powerplay or things like that)

Starting the ATI Catalyst Control Center only give me a chance to change resolution.
some desktop settings which are grayed out and nothing else.
It looks like some kind of initial settings/wizzard or so, but I can't get past this.

I can find no Mobility driver for the HD 2400XT card on ATI's own site.
Newest mobility driver (direct link) won't install, as the hardware isn't supported.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Michael

ur best bet would try to download the desktop version (radeon hd2400) of the driver from ati and then mod it using driverheaven utility

Thanks a bunch!

Seems to work like a charm.

I have never heard of that possibility.

I now have access to all setting i CCC.
Something was definately wrong with the Acer "stock" driver.

Thanks.

now, the next best thing to do is to clean up ur comp and create a system restore point. Then leave the gpu driver alone, dont get tempted to update/upgrade in this area. It is a touchy/hot sore point !

What are our oppinions? Can I try the new 8.12-driver (modded with DH-mod-tool) or should I stay with the driver from acers web-site?
The CCC is very crippled, but I want to keep the functions with special keys (Fn + F5 or F6).

If your comp is performing smoothly, there is no need for the latest driver from the device manufacturer.

I usually stick with the laptop manufactures and Windows updates, unless there is really a need to get the driver up to date right away.

And if you do want the latest (?), make sure that a restore point has been created and the previous drivers backed up.
