Is there software which can create a whole dvd in to an avi file. The one I have can only change the vob files in to avi. Some of my dvd's have many vob files. I want to change the whole dvd in one shot. Is this possible???

If you want free, if you can rip them to the HD you can use VOB2MPG to 'merge' the VOBs. If you want just plain works, DVDFab Platinum works. 30 day free full trial, about $50 after that. PS: check VideoHelp.com's 'List of Tools'. There may be other solutions.

Why would you want an AVI file? Much better to go H.264 file.

Depends on what you're using it for and what you need to do. Nero Recode and DVDFab are very good. Recode has more options and flexibility but I find that DVDFab makes better looking files when you use high compression.

nero recode is perfect. It is super fast and does exactly what I need. Thank You. I have one last question. Nero recode makes all the vieo files seperate folders. How do I rejoin them in to one file and make them play one after another? Is this possible?

Don't know. I've never tried that. You could always just put them in one folder on your computer and open folder in your player and it will play all of the files in a row.

You have to burn them as a DVD. Make sure when you recode it you are changing it from MPEG2 (DVD Format) to a .AVI .XVID or .DIVX.

For h.264 buy quicktime pro.
