7900GS with a GTX bios temperature readings - correct?

Hi, i know this issue's been discussed here somewhere but cant find it.

Im using the Juan Lu bioses on my Inspiron and with 7900GS bios with a voltmod the temps were coming up to 91C (the clocks were 520/750 more or less). And then i decided to flash it with a gtx bios with a volt mod - and it works! It lets me overclock a little higher (like 580/750, but it seems that its not very stable though...) and the temps are a lot lower! 69-73C. I once saw it go up to 86C, but thats that. Also the idle temps went down from 63C to 54C. So my question is - is this real? This is a huge difference, video bios can do that? Or mayby... somethings mixed up with the sensors and theyre not giving the correct temps?

well the gs and gtx mobile cards are almost Identiical. the difference being a few cut pipelines and a different bios with different clocks

and the chances are the heatsensors are identical as well, as using one type of heatsensor is more economical than a different one for each different card

Maybe the GTX bios is more suited to 1.24V than the GS bios

mine runs cooler too, maxxes out at about 72c, at 600/750 and idles at about 47c

And is it stable? I run mine 580/750 but after a couple of hours i get artifacts and crashes. And what do you use to OC? ATItool?

I use Rivatuner not that it matters
Maybe your artifact problem is related to heat dissipation
is fans and heatsink clean?

hm, dont know. How often are you supposed to clean them?

There probably is something messed up with the sensor readings - I'm pretty sure one of those cards needs an 8 degree temperature offset, and if you notice 54(gtx bios) + 8 = 62 which almost equals your GS bios temperatures.

I clean the fans about once every 6 months, in which the temp would rise from 44C to about 55C and thats without any overclocks
I know people that cleans there laptop more often, but its pretty tedious removing some 30 screws.

Well, I have that 8 degree offset on. Otherwise the temps in IK8FANGUI are always more or less 8C lower then in ATItool.
