Asus Calls it Splits...

Synopsis:
Asus splits into three companies
Asus-Notebooks and Systems (still Asus branded)
Pegatron-Components, Mobo's card (still Asus branded)
Unihan-Chasis and subcomponent (still Asus branded)
Zeros employee pensions

An ASUS employee, speaking on conditions of anonymity, thinks change is for the better. "I think the motherboard market has reached its ceiling," he states.

The ASUS employee closes on a note of optimism. "I think you will see more ASUS notebooks in the U.S. from now on."

Makes me worry for the DIY mid range market and the quality of their branded systems if they start using other companies products.

I saw the article up on engadget myself and find it interesting, not really sure how it's good or bad, good in the way of more individualized support and better targeting of their markets.

i think they want to expand in the notebook market and but people still know them best for components.

I have seen one of the new ASUS notebooks G1 and it was really crappy build quality compared to there older systems I really hope this split is the right way to go.

I've seen some of their builds and they're not bad. Not an XPS(not that it's the best but it's what I know of high end) in my mind but for the price a good laptop.

Yeah, they're trying to get into the top 5 notebook brands in the next three years, according to this article.
