DELL vs ASUS

Im in Australia, Looking for a gaming PC for around $1500 - $2000.

Ive narrowed it down to 2.

PLEASE POST WHY ONE IS BETTER THEN THE OTHER EVEN IF YOUR ONLY REASON IS IT LOOKS BETTER, OR MORE RELIABLE ETC...

1. DELL INSPIRON 1720 $1899
 SPECS
  • Intel Core Duo T7500
  • Vista Home Premium
  • 17.0" Widescreen
  • Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
  • 250GB SATA 5400RPM
  • 2GB SDRAM (up to 4GB)
2. ASUS F3SV $1839

  • Intel Core Duo T7500
  • Vista Home Ultimate
  • 15.4" screen
  • Nvidia Gefore8600 GS
  • SATA 200GB 4200 RPM
  • 2GB SDRAM
I want these laptops for general computing but mainly for playing games.
If anyone has a better option for around the same price please let me know thankyou.

With the 1720, you get more for your money. The 8600 GT is faster then the GS, you get more hard drive space and a faster hard drive speed (5400 rpm vs 4200). Hard drives that are not fast enough to load textures to keep up with the flow of the game often give the user a perceived "lag" or choppiness in gameplay. Also, if you are not going to be carrying the laptop around much, the 17 inch screen is going to be better for gaming in the sense that the screen is bigger. Of course it could be argued for a laptop that big, it's smarter just to get a desktop. With a desktop, you would get much more performance for the same amount of money.
