A question for all the guys that monitor the temp on 7950GTX

Hello all!
As i've stated in my previous posts my 7950 is overheating and cleaning the heatsinks/replacing the thermal compound to AS5 did not help me.
After talking to dell they have agreed to send me a new mobo and video card.

My question is simple, i'd like to know what kind of temps to expect from a normally working card.
What are your temps on idle (normal room temp 20c-30c)
and what are the max temp it reaches when say we run the ati tool graphical view. (Just for reference - when idle, ATI Tool reports 65c on my card, and after running the 3d view of ati tool the card will reach 104c).

I'd like everyone who has that info to post it here and i'll do the math and calculate the avarage working temp of that card.

P.S Since different monitoring progs report different tempratures please state which program is reporting the temps.

Thanks everybody!
Hope it's not too much to ask for!
Happy weekend to everybody!

Well using ATi tool .27 I idle around 45C up to 61C until fan kicks in then back down to 45 again. At scan for artifacts for 7 minutes I reached a max temp of 72C with fans around 3K speed.

I'm using 169.04 extreme G drivers and running at 600 core 700 memory, with 2d settings at 150 core 200 memory.

I'm using a 7950 GTX Rev. 0 on an Inspiron 9400.

Thanks a lot for the information!!
If there's anyone else that has that kind of info, i'll be greatful!

I'm having the same problem with mine... idles around 65c and when gaming I get up to 105c. This is without OC'ing.
i8kfangui tells me that my fans are on high but when I force them on high it does go to a higher rpm and starts to cool down. When I'm playing my CPU fan kicks into a high speed but the GPU fan does not. No bios updates have helped but there does seem to be a problem with the bios or hardware.
I plan on calling Dell for replacement as well because this is 'not' normal.

Strange. Mine never goes over 60c, even when I oc. Feels like mine has some addiitonal cap?

This just kills me, feels like there are two versions of the card, one that actually can cool itself and the other one that can't.
I saw too much post of ppl reporting the same problem - the card idles around 60-70 and gets to 104-5 when working.

Your cards, they hit 104 when busy ? I bet no, they get to 70-80 and come back to normal, right ?

Mine idles at around 70 to 75 - in fact, it's idling at 75 right now. I have yet to apply AS5, but that is next on my list.

Have you tired to run ATI Tool "3d view" for at least 5 minutes and monitor the temprature ?

Thread hijack inc!

When I set my fans to max using 8kfangui they frequently and periodically drop to normal rates for half a second every 20-30 seconds or so. Does anyone know what other software is influencing the fans?

no they do not pass 75c

I have an XPS M1710 with the T7600G processor. I overclock the CPU to 3.00 GHz which puts the fan on full blast at all times (REAL full blast, not what fangui says is max, which it isn't). MY GPU is overclocked mildly to 587/1300 (stock is 575/1200, and I've been up to 600/1400 with some artifacts in ATItool). I have AS5'd both the CPU and GPU. I also use Notebook Hardware Control to undervolt my CPU. As I sit here any type this, my GPU is idling at only 38C. Certain games/situations drive it up to 92C under load, but on average it only gets into the 70's or 80's (depending on the game).

@ShnikeJSB did the temps improve dramatically after you as5'ed the gpu ?

IIRC, I lost between 3-6 degrees on my GPU after the AS5 was allowed time to set in correctly, depending on the situation. I lost another 2-4 degrees with my Spire PacificBreeze underneath the laptop too. Well worth it, IMHO.

Idle is 40-50 using I8kfangui, when gaming it hits high 80's.

It's the Dell Bios...
