How To Increase Shared Video Memory

Thread Starter
Call me stupid, but I dont know how to assign more video memory on Compaq 6715s.
Ati xpress1250 is said support maximum of 768 mb of ram assigned, but my lingers on 128 mb.
I have 1 gb of ram and when i bought another gb nothing increased (in terms of video memory).
I looked in bios and in CCC but there is nothing. Buy the way, im not sure what I entered is bios after all.
It si written something like "settings" (F9) and its not exactly like bios on PC, it has lot less options.

It is forth month now I cant solve this.

The difference is between "shared memory" and frame buffer memory, often now called "dedicated memory", but it is really still system memory, just a pre-determined amount set aside in a frame buffer for use by the GPU.

Some computers with integrated graphics do have an assignable frame buffer that can be changed in bios, and some are not bios adjustable. In my dv6625us, the Nvidia integrated graphics can be adjusted in bios, but not all that much. The default is set at 64mb, but it can be moved down to 32mb, or up to 128mb. Frankly, I have yet to see any appreciable differences based on this frame buffer setting anyway.

The 128mb that you are referring to, is the set-aside frame buffer ram, however, there still is the rest of the available "shared memory" as well.
