8700M benchmark results- nice!

I've just received my m9750 and DAMN is it an amazing notebook. I was extremely surprised by the benchmark tests on this machine. I'd expect 4500-5000 from a single 8700M GT card... but these results were much better.
  • Doom 3
    • Doom 3: 160.6 fps
  • 3DMark 2006
    • Customer Information:
    • 3DMark Score: 5,846.00 3DMarks
    • SM2.0 Score: 2,577.00
    • HDR/SM3.0 Score: 2,389.00
    • CPU Score: 1,758.00
    • Game Score: 0.00 Points
    • SM2.0 Graphics Tests
    • GT1 - Return To Proxycon: 20.73 FPS
    • GT2 - Firefly Forest: 22.23 FPS
    • CPU Tests
    • CPU1 - Red Valley: 0.55 FPS
    • CPU2 - Red Valley: 0.89 FPS
    • HDR/SM3.0 Graphics Tests
    • HDR1 - Canyon Flight: 20.32 FPS
    • HDR2 - Deep Freeze: 27.46 FPS
Am I underestimating the power of this card? 5846 for a no overclocked 512 8700M on 3dMark06 seems higher than the norm. If its higher than normal... or not, I'm not complaining!

This is for an m9750 with Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz T7200, single 8700M, and 1GB of ram.

If it's 1280x1024, feels spectacular. What are the default clocks?

Are you running XP or Vista?

If it's Vista you are running then that's incredible. the m9750 is an awesome machine.

Yes, this is at the default 1280 x 1024 settings. Default clocks are 625 Core, 1250 Shader and 800 memory.

XP. It was originally ordered with Vista, then shortly after realized what a terrible plan that was and changed the order to XP.

no direct X 10? I assume you don't own any direct x 10 games, like Crysis...

Nah, DX10 is very overrated for now. One- I don't play any DX10 games at this point, and don't see much coming up that I'm getting over excited for. Two- Looking at screenshots, the difference between DX9 and DX10 effects is not all that noticeable.

I'll take the performance boost of XP over a few DX10 effects.

I'm with you on that. Unless I have dual 8800gtx and quad processors I won't be worrying about "missing out" on directx10.
