Low sound volume levels problem

Thread Starter
Has anyone else noticed that the sound output on this laptop is pretty quiet? I know its a laptop and sound is not loud but when i play dvd's on my tv and use a mini jack output to rca for my tv sound i have to crank the volume to max on the laptop and max on the tv for good sound volume. Even watching dvd's on the laptop i cannot get enough volume out. It seems like it should be able to go higher but the drivers(?) wont let it. Any ideas? Thanks!

What is your WAVE volume settings?

And be sure to check them all. Look in every nook and cranny. Also, check out the output mode. Click on START, then Settings, then Sounds and Audio Devices Properties then Volume tab. Check Device volume and then below on the Speaker settings box, check both Speaker Volume and then Advanced. In there, click on Speakers and then see what is selected in the drop down menu. Try different options. You may also want to check Performance but I don't think that would change your volume.

Has this been a problem from day 1? Or did it change recently?

Subwoofer??

You didn't mention the optional "subwoofer" but if you have it, you will need to configure the speakers for 5.1 surround. When we did that our sound really came to life. Much more volume and clarity. I think we were running on 2 of the rinky-dink speakers before. As mentioned in the previuos post, play with the speaker configuration options under the audio properties. Good luck.

Even my 5620 manual says that I should put the speaker config for 5.1 surround :]
RTFM
