I recived my 8790 on friday 4/9, It has been running great so far but to I powerd on and the display was scrambled. I powerd off and turned it back on and it has been fine after that. I am useing New Omega drivers with "NO OVERCLOCKING". this has been my only problem, It only has done it once so far just wondering if any of you have had the same problem. I love the display no dead pix.

Did this happen upon reboot after installing the new omega drivers. If so, you will get either a black or scambled screen for a brief time, but then should be a normal screen thereafter.

It happend a second time this morning. When windows loads I can make out just enough to restart windows, I don't have to hard boot, I wonder if its a driver problem or hardware, I'm useing 4.4 omega, and no overclocking. It dose not lock up or anything eles but if this is going to be an every day thing. then "Huston we have a problem"

OH by the way, I have lived a dream, It dosen't get much better than kicken back in my lazey boy playing my favorite games with a cold beer in hand watch'en a couple of chicks go'en at on the big screen. We'll I guess if my wife would get up and come over and do me a faver will playing my games, Then it wouldn't be a laptop it would be a backtop

Did/DOes it have the probelm with the original Sager Drivers?? Might want to revert back and see if it does to "discount" the drivers as the problem.

No, I have see that post before, I'll take of pic of it the next time and post it, have not used the sager video drivers this is my first install on this pc, I'll try the sager video drivers and wait and see what happens. If it still dose it its going back, Im not going to speed 2.3g's to settle for a laptop with a intermitent display problem. I know I could have tryed these drivers by now but I wanted to post it asap to see if it is a majoir problem or a quick fix so I don't waste a bucnh of my time.

Mgs,

I had something similar on my 8790. (arrived last monday, loving every second) I didn't see a description of your harware setup, but mine is:

8790 3.0 Ghz Nb
1 gig ram
DVD-R
12v battery
60G hd 5400

It happened to me once was while playing Quake Team arena, and once was just during initial Windows boot up. The screen is scrambled, and moving the mouse only makes it worse.

Mine was from trying to adjust the brightness of the screen with the function key and the F8 F9 keys while the processor was being used. (i.e. boot up, and 3-d)

The first time, in the 3d game, i thought it may have had something to do with the graphics on battery. But when it happened to me again when it was plugged in and just setting up the desktop, it worried me a little.

I think it may have something to do with the processor having too many things to sort through at a time. The second time it happened, I just waited it out, and it straightened out. Since then, i've become more caution about using the brightness functions. I also updated the Graphics drivers, and have not seen it since.

Hope this helps out. If for nothing other than knowing there's someone else out there who has seen what you see.

Thank you for your post, I haven't had this problem againe,so I'm not going to worry about it. This laptop badly needed the fan control bios update, I idle at 30c w my 3.2, 44c while gameing.
