Credits

This thread is dedicated for suggestion, bug reports, comments etc. I will post updates when we make changes to Credits system.

Credits!

As you can see, we have a new cash system setup. We figured there needs to be something other than the Reputation System to represent a member’s dedication and helpfulness to the forums. The result was a cash mod that can be used to acquire and spend fake money.

How do you acquire Credits? There are multiple different ways for members to acquire money.

+$0.25 per post;
+$0.50 per thread:

You will automatically be given +$0.25 for every post you make and +$0.50 for every thread you make. These are self explanatory.

+$100 for an OFF-SITE review added via ReviewCP (CRs ONLY)
+$500 for notebook added via ReviewCP (CRs ONLY)

These two options are reserved strictly for the CRs or Community Rep members. (Those green named people you see floating around) These members have proven their dedication to the forums and are given exclusive rights to NBF’s backend notebook section to help keep the notebook database up to date.

+$100 for successful news post

There are two ways to post news. The first way is to post a thread in the Notebook News Section. The second way is to make a thread in the Desktop News Section. Both sections are heavily moderator and you must follow the rules when posting news so please do not spam these forums with nonsense and read the Rules Threads in each section before posting.

up to +$5000 for notebook/desktop review

The highest honor you can receive is posting a review. What better time to post a review when you just have purchased a new notebook or desktop. Again, these sections are heavily moderated so posting a review with one or two paragraphs is not necessarily the best way to earn credits. Depending on how thorough your review is, the more credits you receive.

What can the Credits be used for? Well you will find out soon enough. There is still a lot to be done and changed with the forums but rest assured, these credits will be worth something soon. So start saving. Currently there are some OFF Topic games being started like the First Annual NBF Super Bowl Grid Game that will cost Credits to participate in. You can also participate in the Google Maps game and receive 100 credits for a correct answer if you follow the rules on page 1, and you can also participate in the Monthly NBF raffle by going to your UserCp and clicking on Donations and Drawings.

Can I trade/donate credits? Yup. To do this you can go into your userCP, and at the bottom left you will see Donations and Drawings. When you click on it you will have options to type in a Recipient, Comment and the amount of Credits to give them.

Rules

Any members who are caught abusing the Credit System will be banned from the system entirely starting today. I am putting this in the Official NBF Rules to be clear. I already caught 1 member who made 3 alts to take loans out and donate to himself. Its very easy for me to keep track of this in the backend. You abuse, you lose.

Update:: I am currently running a Mass Update script that will assign you points based on previous posts and threads. There is also an additional formula that is being applied that i am not going to reveal so the system is not abused. It will take aprox. 24 hours for the script to finish, and members should be at their correct credit standings. Here is the latest top 15 credit holders, minus of course test who I am using for testing.

Update:: Just to update everyone. The Script is currently working its way past member ID 30,000. What does that mean? It means we still have 130,000 more people to update... If you dont know if you've been updated yet, go to your public profile and read the digits at the very end. An example would be Firefighter3110 who's ID number is 61107. So the script needs to go through 30,000 more people before it reaches him. The script started at #1 and will increment by 1 until its complete. Thats all for now.

I got my credits already biotches!!!!!!

Stuck 1k into Savings, so I'm earning interest on your asses. Who's gonna be rich here? That's right, the postwhores who have 6x more posts than me.

However, taking into account my interst will compound every month, it'll only take me 58 months (4.8 years) to reach the 10k savings limit. WOOT!

PS, i say put in a credit clause based on time of membership as well. Say 250 credits per year. Give a brother a break.
