How to delete files in Quickplay Library?

Thread Starter
Hi, does anyone know how to successfully delete files from Media Library in HP QuickPlay? I understand how to remove files from my playlist, but how to delete it from the library?

I can't delete the entry from the QuickPlay library..., even when I delete the file in windows explorer, the entry remains in the catalog. Has any one experienced similar problem? is there a solution for this?

Thank you

Hi qhn... yes, I searched all this forum and others forums, google and newsgroups and I can't find a answer. Like me, I can see others users with the same problem but no solution.

Thanks

yep, all registry entries with the world "quickplay", all folders (on "c", "users", "appdata" and others)
I don't think it's a malware because I google this problem and I found others with the ssame problem an no solution.
Just a tip: when I did the last update, the file came from Cyberlink... so, Cyberlink did this software for HP.

And again, thanks for help qhn

neither did i. just a remark that Quickplay behaviour was like a malware in itself. I still dig about, it bothered me a bit that a clean re.install cannot clear this

i will definitively try this sometimes with a restore point before hand

SOLUTION!!
It turns out that Quickplay piggybacks on the Windows Media Player library. Here's how to clear a file out of the Quickplay library.

1. Open Window Media Player
2. Click on the Library Tab
3. Choose the type of media you want to remove from the library. For me this was video.
4. Highlight the item in Window Media Player library

5. You then remove the file from Window Media Player library by doing one of the following:

A. Press the delete key
B. Right click on the item and choose delete
C. Press the menu button and choose delete

Most of us have Window Media Player set to remove items from the library without deleting the file from your hard drive. If you are concerned this isn't true, click on the arrow below the word library and choose "more options." Make certain that "Delete files from computer when deleted from library" is UNCHECKED.

6. Do the same for other file types.

7. Close Windows Media Player. Open up QuickPlay and Viola! you have removed these items.

I don't know if this cures all versions of this problem, but it was a great discovery for me!
