Power Failure on Dell C640 Notebook

Hi there

I'm having some trouble with a Dell Notebook.

The notebook is dead - even with the AC Adapter plugged in. The light on the notebook doesn't come on, no activity when pressing the power button.

As for the adapter itself, the LED on it is supposed to always be a steady green. When unplugged (from notebook) it remains on, but as soon as you put it into the notebook it flashes.

Any help will be appreciated

I was thinking that as well, but the fact that the adapter LED flashes had made me wonder if it wasn't the adapter?

Hello,

This is Richard from Dell's Online Community Outreach group. I am posting a reply to confirm the status of your C640, based on what you wrote. If you have properly reset the power supply (unplugged it for 2 minutes), and its green light blinks or goes out when placed into the computer. Then that is an indication that the motherboard is shorting out and will no longer be functional.

You can PM me if you have any other questions.

Regards,
