Not sure why the stats i entered did not post:

Dell Precision M6300
CPU: Intel T7500 Core2 Duo 2.2Ghz
Graphics: nVidia Quadro FX 1600M 512mb
HD: 200Gb 7200RPM Seagate
Display: UWXGA 1920x1600

This is a replacement for my XPS2.
It was purchased by my corporate IT, so I do not know the price.
The ordering and received time reflect an unknown amount of time that my IT department had this machine and was configuring it.

First off, the black plastic are better quality than my XPS2. The Lighter area on the XPS2 was a light silver, on the M6300 it is a darker grey.
I liked my the XPS2 keyboard but the M6300 is slightly improved as well.

I have only run one test so far.

3Dmark06 : 4848
With the Dell Drivers 6.14.11.5619

I intend to run more.

The 3Dmark is higher than my XPS2 and at 3 hours this machine gets an hour extra battery life. Double win.

Last is the Screen.
I was always very pleased with XPS2 screen.
The screen on the M6300 is much brighter and has better colors.
I have a Dell 1907FPt LCD 2nd monitor. The M9300 screen makes the 2nd monitor look very dull.

I intent to add more to this review in time.

I'm glad your pleased with it so far and look forward to reading more.

Does it run reasonably cool.....enough to use on your lap comfortably?

3 hours battery life is excellent, much better than I got on the XPS M1730 running one video card and all the lights and keyboard backlight disabled.

Yes it runs cooler than the 7800GTX to the touch.
I have not yet tried gaming with it on my lap though.
