Hello folks,

New here and I think I am in the right spot or at least I hope. I will try to keep this as short as possiable.

Back story- old laptop (one year old((compaq)) ) died from mother board. I purcahased new HP Pavillion dv 9000 with second hard drive bay. So I salvaged my old hard drive 80G which has a lot of files I need. I did get installed.

If I go thru my computer I can see the drive and go thru it but when I want a file it says I dont have admin rights. Geek squad said to go into safe mode and change or eliminate users. I think I did that right, the only user I think is admin.

This did not work. I have also tried to take ownership of files and when I get down to say a picture it says I dont have permission.

I have vista on new computer and XP on the old. The old drive might have been locked at the time ( user control) but I dont really think so since I got back from Iraq I didnt need it anymore. I can use the old hard drive for storage ( I saved a pic or two to test).


So I guess right now I am at a loss as to where to turn to now. Any Ideas would be greatly apprciated.
