That's a good question, Cajun. I may upgrade it, but I seem to upgrade my notebooks fairly regularly ... so a longer term warranty isn't critical to me. Given the Alienware notebook warranty's are non-transferable, it doesn't add extra value should I decide to sell it or give it away in a year.

For most people, I definitely recommend the 2yr, or better yet ... 3 yr option.

Good reason. I guess I should of thought about that. I'm eyeing this notebook also. It is between this and the Sager NP5792. I'm not big on SLI in notebooks as I once was.

This also won't be Shazza's primary computer, but for a good majority of users here, they only own 1 laptop or powerful desktop and thus need a longer warranty since their computers are bigger investments wrt how key they are.

That's right, BFIsch. The other point I forgot to mention is, using my AMEX card, I get an extra year's warranty anyway (although I've never actually tried to collect on the credit card protection extra warranty, so don't know how well it works).

I've always gotten 1 year from alienware. I know my pcs/ build my own desktops even stripped my alienware laptop and put it back together to clean it all out. If you know what you're doing a year I feel is more than enough for a device to fail if is/going to.

That is my personal opinion and why I choose 1 year. Others less knowledgeable should go with more or whatever they can afford.
I chos ethe 3 year for the fact I travel for work. And I really can't afford to run out of warranty when my compute ris my money maker. Again for personnal use i woudl choose teh 1yr warranty.

In one year you could probaly buy better components and replace what breaks on your own.

WOOT

In phase 4.

An update ... stayed on Phase 2 for a long time, then noticed today I made it to Phase 4. Imagine it will sit there for a while.

LOL ... yeah. Figured why not, for $20. So far, I've resisted the game ... and may not even load it up. Guild Wars stole a lotta hours, so I've got to wait for the right time to try it.
I have a level 73 monk on everquest 2 already so no time for wow.
Lol.. I have 3 tunes on WOW. 28 Priest 46 warrior and 70 lock lol..

Still trying to get that time back lol.

Well, the old phase site is showing me back in Phase 1 ... when I was previously in IV. I'm guessing the're updating the database, and it will be okay next week. But, if this was my first order, I would be freaked out all weekend.

Come on, Alienware --- let's fix the little things !!
Its cool they have the phases and a place for you to check, but they need to make sure customers aren't freaked by the system. The system is in place to give them piece of mind during the long build process, but it always seems to make it worse (WHY AM I BACK IN PHASE 2?!?!?!). Maybe AW-Isaac will see this and take note
