I must say, I'm impressed with eVGA's service.

They said 2-3 days for processing of the old card once they receive it, then 2-3 more days for shipping.

Shipped the 8800 GT out on Friday, the 16th. They got it Monday, the 19th, and shipped the 9800 GTX Tuesday the 20th, and is scheduled for delivery on Thursday, the 22nd.

Less than a week turnaround. I'm very impressed. I also called and spoke with someone at eVGA twice, for different reasons, and I got an English-speaking person both times, and they were very nice, and very helpful. I'm definitely sticking with eVGA. I have to give them major props.

I've had similar experiences. They've always been there when needed - that the important thing.

Well, my 9800 GTX is in and installed. I took some pics of my rig (finally) and I'll post those up once I get back from a couple of things I need to do.

Here's a GPU-Z screenshot of the 9800 GTX if anyone was interested:

Sweet.

3dmark06 it and then overlock it. repeat.

=)

That looks awfully familiar

Hehe...

Yeah, fitting that 9800 GTX into the case was almost a stretch. That's about as long as this case will allow for a videocard.

I imagine so...that's why I mounted my HDs in the lower HD cage and completey removed the upper. I'm glad it fit.

3DMark06 - Default settings:

3DMark06 - 4x AA, 8x AF:

Everything is run at stock clock speeds for the CPU and videocard, as I haven't re-overclocked anything just yet.

Awesome man.

On the GTX topic - it looks like the new NV GPUs are gonna come out about 2 weeks before my step-up expires.

They look to be pretty decent, but, I'm not worrying about a GPU upgrade for a while now, especially until NVIDIA gets DirectX 10.1 support.

And here's a GPU-Z screenshot of my max stable overclock on my 9800 GTX:

OK, so I'm thinking of making the transition to Vista x64.

First off, I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences with Vista x64. Right now, the only big thing I'm concerned with is the Audigy 2, but I've got the Daniel_K drivers, and many have said they're good on x64, so we'll see.

I guess my big question here is whether or not this will be worthwhile, and how much teething I'll have. I'm not running anything very old at all, with the oldest game I really play being EverQuest II, but since that's always updated, I'm not worried about it. I also saw things about Adobe apps not playing well, but I've also got the Adobe Master Collection CS3 (thanks DeVry!) so I'm not too terribly worried.

Any suggestions/feedback on Vista x64?

I still consider myself a 32-bit Vista noob, much less the 64-bit version.

Why are you considering the change?
Another topic...I haven't used the DK modded drivers for X-Fi yet. From my understanding, all they do is enable DD Live - correct?

I also have Alchemy installed, which is BS because Creative's EAX emulation occurs in a very limited number of games.

Well, I'm considering the change because I'd like to fully use the 4GB of RAM I have, along with things I've read that Vista x64 is generally "snappier" than 32-bit Vista.

The Daniel_K drivers do alot more for Audigy owners than X-Fi owners, but from what I understand, there's alot of stuff missing from the X-Fi drivers in Vista as well (when compared to the XP drivers). To what extent, I don't know, as I never really read into it.

As far as ALchemy, yeah, it's not the BEST solution, but with the more recent version, which was made free to both X-Fi and Audigy owners, there's better support, so you may want to give the latest rev a spin.

The ram thing is great, and it works okay for me - I do prefer it, although to be honest 32bit XP (my dual boot for work) feels quicker in day to day stuff

Whats was that 3dmark score again, I couldnt get past the 2 nipples lol

Oh, and BTW, those two nipples belong to Jessica Alba, in case you were wondering.
