Lots of fine print on new 15x's read it ALL!!!

I already gleamed a few things that were suprising!!!

the mid range 2100$ one released today DOES NOT come with the illuminated keyboard!

The only have Ripleys and No SkullCap/Predator Lids!!!!\

And Im sure there are other tid bits I could find if I poked around some more (While not at work, haha)

yes I noticed that, the FX. I bet the case is still sweet though, but for that cash I want the FX.
If you wait a little, you will probably be able to get the FX on a lower config.

@archalien ... beginning to wonder if you work for a competitor of Alienware, or if you just feel compelled to make posts in this section that are, in general, derogatory to Alienware.

Pardon me, cause I really can't remember ... but do you, or have you ever owned an Alienware computer?

You know, AW is a business and like most businesses, they want to please the customer. Would you all rather wait another month for every design/ FX keyboard / Version / graphics card / processor for the m15x to be out, or do you want to be able to order something right now?

BTW, I agree w/ Shazz WRT archalien.

Yeah I made a comment on his other thread he started 6 minutes later. Gets kinda old reading his negative AW stuff

Yes I have owned an AW, removed from my sig when I got the HP thats there now. No, I dont work for an AW competitor. In fact until just recently worked at a large game company. You could say this company (and I) was partnered and profited from AW's success- we'll to an extent at least.

I am a little disappointed in you guys. There is nothing negative in this thread. In fact I feel Im providing a valuable resource to this community. I, like many, may have been so excited to order the 15x right away that I may have missed these two very important features. Only to have immense buyers remorse at some later time. (Followed by some serious complaining here and abroad)

My only intent was to educate fellow AW'ers to avoid such a situation. (At least w/ this thread ha )

That, I think, is exactly the point. Nothing wrong with pointing out that the $2099 version doesn't come with the illuminated keyboard ... although I don't exactly call being in the description of the system "fine print."

Nothing wrong with this post per say, but the overall effect your posts have on me is "AW = bad"

He already did in another thread back when it was announced. Stated how the 1530 was pure pawnage and that the 15x had so many design flaws. And then states he is disappointed with our response to yet another thread .

Well let's make things right.

The 2600 confirguration DOES have teh iluminated Keyboard.

And yes the ripley is the only style available to date.
Also Black is still not available to date.

Nor is Penryn processors.

These will/may all come at a later date.

AS for now anyone ordering an M15x please review your spec sheets before finalizing your order.

And most importantly if you don't not understand what a particular function is Call alienware or ask around on the forum.

Hopefully this will avoid anyone having buyer's remorse at a later date.

And enjoy the hell out of your investment.

(note, I actually get a kick out of archalien's posts. Gives us something to talk about while waiting for the new stuff to arrive)
I think AW wants to quell the non stop asking of "Can I get it NOW?" crowd by releasing this as quickly as they can. And yes reading the fine print does shout back at you saying "If you can wait do so its only going to get better."

I love my 9750 and am going to wait for the 17' version as well as for the dust to settle before taking a plunge. I want to be able to take full advantage of what they are going to provide, I also want to know what they plan to present as an ALX model. That should be interesting to wait for as well.

I agree an educated shopper will be ontop of everything before ordering or should be. Arch is right too many people do not read the fine print or for that matter much of anything other than what goodies they click on. Those are the ones who later slam and flame AW because "they didnt tell me this when I ordered" when in fact it was right in their faces. I just glad he was quick to point that out before too many ordered too quickly.

Yep, always good to have arch around to save us from Evil Alienware

(I do agree that waiting is almost always the best thing to do. And, having ordered the m15x, I hope you're right that they are going to be able to meet demand for early orders)

Hopefully AW did learn from the m9750's.

Unfortunately this is the double edged sword of the computer world, while you wait for the perfect solution, something new and better is annopunced that will come out 1 week later in someone elses machine and not in your otherwise perfect configuration for 3-6 months if ever. So you can wait and repeat the cycle....... or order, and have it outdated before UPS arrives.....ugh

I think the best way to deal with this is to buy the step below. Go with the 2nd or 3rd tier Core 2 Duo, second level graphics, 2nd level HD size, 2GB not 4 GB, keep the cost down but still get the SWEET laptop M15X you want but without going overboard. I know I'm talking Dell XPS here, but look at my specs...retail price on Dell.com 3 years ago was $4400 with monitor....this thing is probably worth 750 on ebay at best right now, even with the EE processor which is probably less powerful than a low end core 2 duo.
