Onkyo are really nice. I have never had a problem with anything they made. What are you trying to use it for and what is the price range?

OK,

How big is the room you are setting it up in?
How Loud do you want it to be?
Do you want to run multiple rooms?
How many components do you want to plug into it?
Do you already have speakers?
Do you want it to process video as well as audio?

How many components do you want to plug into it?DVD, pc,cable, hdtv, over air reciever
Do you already have speakers?crappy ones which would eventually be replaced
Do you want it to process video as well as audio?yes
Want to slowly build a surround sound system for living room and push audio to other rooms but years of unprotected weapons use has left me not an audiophile.

Alright

Main room and one other it should be fine for.
Plenty of power in that receiver then.
3 rooms I don't know.
It only has Component so anything that requires HDCP is out. Also it has limited inputs:

Mine:

If you are looking to keep it for a while get as many inputs as you can.

Speakers we will deal with later.
HDMI in and out for future proofing would be best.

Thanks I won't dive into this right now then will look around some more and see what's available just thought it was a good inexpensive way to get in on the ground floor but I should have known better.

+1 on the Onkyo. I have one (an older model--from several years ago). WRAT amplifier technology is quite nice--very very clean sound: this is the only multi-channel integrated receiver/amp I've ever owned where I can take a clean input (CD), put the source on pause, crank the volume WAAAY up, and basically hear no hiss.

Looks pretty nice too. Built like a tank.

You have no idea how much this crap has changed. But I would def do some more digging before you jump on ANYTHING. with the addition of Video processing the entire equation has changed.

I have had great experiences with multiple Denon recivers. They tend to run a bit on the pricey side though.
Denon is another great brand. Stay away from Pioneer, Sony, JVC, Kenwood.

Onkyo, Denon, Harmon Kardon are all great companies.
