M1330 32GB SSD & Vista Ultimate

Thread Starter
So, I've needed a more mobile computer for a while and I decided to buy an M1330 from the outlet store w/the 15% off coupon. I found a pretty good deal for around $1500 shipped. :

2.2GHz
4GB
Vista Ultimate
32GB SSD
LED/Camera
Fingerprint
Intel A/G/N
Bluetooth
Crimson Red
9 Cell
1 yr Accidental Wty (will upgrade)

I don't play many games, just need a fast, reliable, mobile computer. However, I am going to install Office 2007 Ultimate & need some space. Dell has all of the backup Vista onto the hard drive and such. I think I am only left about 6-8GB left of the hard drive. I am going to put most of my songs and such on an external hard drive. I just need this for business & school. Does anybody have any reccommendations of how to configure Vista, or how to put the backup on DVD's, so I can have a bit of extra room w/o worrying about the space. I was looking for the 64GB SSD for an entire day and I found it twice, but it was gone once I tried to put it in my basket. I knew that 32GB was going to be pushing it, but I really don't hold too much on it anyways. Any suggestions of what APPS to put on the storage or how to configure it would help. Thanks
(These SSD's are fast....& the M1330's are nice!!!)

A few items that I can think of:

Dell recovery partition (if they still do that sort of thing) takes up a few gigs.
Mediadirect (if it comes on the 1330) takes up 2-3 gigs.
Windows Vista System Restore + Shadow Copies will reserve around 15% of the drive space for backups and previous versions, and you can google how to disable it via the command prompt.

Do the newer Dells still have an SD memory card slot? I would just get a couple gig SD card and stuff that in for storing some files. A bunch of SD cards are alot easier to carry around than a large external HD.

Just a thought :-)
