Hi,

A month ago I bought a new notebook (hp pavilion dv9000 series). When I installed Counter-strike source, I was very anxious to see my FPS. Turned out to be not that good: avg 70 FPS.

So I post this message for 2 reasons.
  1. I'm looking for config-tweaks (+ explanation) to make css run smoother.
  2. I'm looking for the solution to my graphical "smog" error!
My graphical error:

First of all 'll show my system specs (in Dutch ).

or more detailed:

Now my CSS configuration (I tried to fix it with every single combination of these settings:

Now my in-game problem: I see a covering smoke on some spots in some maps. By this smoke I'm practically unable to see at long distance.

screenshot 2:

Maybe some1 can help me fix this problem!

You should change your video setting back to the recommended settings and get the latest video driver if you havnt already

that has to do with the draw distance in your settings.

play with the antialiasing mode and i bet you'll see a difference

Are you playing at native res? Games like to be run at native res..or at least, native ratio, I believe.

solution was none of those mentioned above.

instead of changing settings i had to run the game using directx 8
(-dxlevel 80 or 81).

greets,
