Thanks Buck, I really appreciate your assistance. Will report back later!

SpeedFan doesn't allow me to change GPU temps, and only shows one card as well...

Well I had 7900KO, 8800GTS, and presently the 8800GT cards in Sli, had water cooled the first two, and the only reason I did not water cool the GTs was I am planning to getting the 9800GX2 and probably will do those in SLI.

What are your GT temps, since they're in SLI as well as mine.

Thanks in advance by the way.

49c top card, 53c bottom card idle. Room temp around 73f. Top fan at 60%, bottom fan at 70%. After a couple rounds in Crysis they peak around 70c. That is EVGA SSC's with the stock single slot coolers. They are currently in a stacker with two 120mm fans in the lower fan panel blowing air in on them. 80c after a bit in Crysis shouldn't be anything to worry about. Least no reason to go extreme on trying to cool them further. If a newer fan helps that's good but I wouldn't go crazy at those temps. Nice rig btw.

Thanks hulioni, I appreciate your input.

Or perhaps a good time to look into AM cooling lol

Hi (Im posting here cause apparently I cannot post a new topic...weird)...

I bought my first video-card (since I decided to play some games) and I requested a ATI Radeon HD5450 and now opening my PC I saw they installed a MSI R5450 (1G) azz.gif

Now I dont know if the ATI with red capacitors was 512MB, hence the difference with the 1G with gray capacitors.

Anyone can please tell me what is the difference of each?
ATI Radeon HD5450
MSI R5450

Thank you! Im also trying to find information about the MSI...ugh...

Hm, I still think ATI is better...Im angryfire.gif because I said ATI-AMD, not MSI...Christ my processor is AMD, my onboard is ATI-HD3300! Now I have to cross town, again, to change it...I guess those guys think all girls dont pay attention to their computers.

Anyway if they don't have the ATI I want, and supposing I have to buy an Nvidia, would it consume more energy? A friend said to stick with the same brand because it could work more the motherboard, dont know if this is accurate. Why I wanted the HD5450, cause it can run Crysis pretty well and probably it will handle Mass Effect 3 when released.

Thanks for the links ghn!

Give your seller a ring, blast them off winknudge.gif I don't see why they cannot get you and AMD card if you are set and ordered it so. And I agree with your friend, if you can always stick with the same brand - they always work better and you have 1 spot to blame for anything that doesn't work right laugh4.gif

Hi. Feedback: they didn’t have the card, so I got my $ back and now I’m waiting the HD. I’m a bit confused however about the brand. The seller said AMD doesn’t offer/make video cards, but why in their website there is a list of video-cards as ‘products’? bored.gif

Now about the MSI card, I decided to run a quick test and: with my onboard hd3300, I used to get a few seconds of a “loading” messange between scenes in the game, pretty normal in RPG and not much annoying. With the 1G video-card though I got lagging in those moments (replacing the loading), and in combat scenes which never happened with my onboard. Though the card “improved" the game a bit (that requires 256MB or ATI X1800 XL) it should run smoothly with 6G DDR3 and Phenon II. Even Mass Effect II, which is heavier than COD4 was running nicely with my onboard, there was no significant change with the video-card I tested. Is this suppose to happen?
Thank you.

This is correct, AMD is the supplier, rarely a manufacturer

MSI cards come with some extra software that allows them to tweak and setting up, taking the whole pc configuration into consideration at start. This would eliminate lagging for some users and improved performance overall on games - though I would check game sites for patches to be sure if they have something for the mentioned card.

Can we check on this?

Why can't members post new topics in DT section?

Hello

Offtopic - I didn't try to post a new topic since this one is open. But I reported to Qhn the same problem days ago again. Hope this can be fixed, would be nice a small dskt corner here smile.gif

As for video-card, I still didn't buy one, was wondering about the XFX, is it good? What about EVGA? ...Thinking about a 9800GT. My PSU is a CX430 and I won't overclock.
My system is similar to this one, expect my mb which is Asus, HDD and ram 6Gddr3. He's using a Thermaltake TR2-430W 430 Watt Power Supply and a EVGA GeForce GTS 450 with 1GB DDR5 DirectX11 and SLI Capable. That is why I thought a 9800GT could be ok with my PSU.
If not maybe a Radeon 5770 or 6850?
Any ideas?

Oh and some people say Geforce is better than ATI, others disagree the Geforce has better performance. Any overheat difference, noise?
Thanks again!
If you can, get an 9800 GTX - would make a world of difference comparing to the GT version. And heck, ATI or nVidia, they go back and forth depending on the models you are looking at. Radeon 6850 ain't bad winknudge.gif

Help! tongue.gif

I did tried to check this 9800GTX+ (= HD 4850 = 250GTS) but all sold out.
I can only find:
450 GTS DDR5 evga
ATI 6770 (brand I forgot)
and a bunch of 6xxx series DDR3 ( too much difference with DDR5??)

Noob question: my motherboard is for DDR3, this DDR5 has nothing to do with slots right?

Also I will have to change my current PSU/Corsair 430 for a 750tx or 600 if I can find one. I heard about this Aerocool but idk...

But the cards, oh the cards... which one?
http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=634&card2=658
To be used with 1280x1024, underclocked.

And last, true or false:
ATI overheats more than nV?

Thank you again!

EDIT - Oh by the way they recommended the 6850 too, but is way more expensive sad.gif
post #60 of 70
DDR5 used in graphic cards meaning faster processing speed. And it has nothing to do with DDR3 PC memory

From your link the AMD card is much better spec-ed; what is the difference in price vs the nVidia?

AMD more heat than nVidia? nah, I don't think so personally, furthermore you are using it on a desktop and not with hard gaming.

cheers ...
