Scaling is much improved over what it was just a few years back. An LCD however is always its sharpest when running in its native resolution or a multiple thereof. Mostly you see this in sharper text and photos. Its been a few laptops since I have been able to see the difference in games. This is why I question some folks desire to get a lappy with a greater resolution. At 1440X900 the icons and text are already as small as most folks are going to like. If your going to lower the resolution of your WUXGA screen so you can read text and what not then your giving up sharpness and paying more to gain nothing. This of course does not include the folks who need the extra real estate or do photo editing etc. The question is are you one of those people? I'm not and would buy the lower res screen regardless of the availability of WUXGA.
