Alienware: GO ROT IN HELL!!!

Thread Starter
Dear Members,
I was the proud owner once of an Alienware Area 51 7700.
Now I'm ashamed that I spent so much money on a piece of crap like that. I bought the computer in 05, it was running fine till the warranty
was up and then just broke. I'm living in Phoenix AZ and one fine day while playing Half Life 2 the laptop decided to release it's spirit to laptop hell. No Big deal I thought, something overheated. Had a buddy at best buy who got me their diagnosis program, which said that a RAM was bad. Tried running it with out the one it said it was bad didn't work either. Well one after another I replaced ram, cpu, HDDs and still not working. The mess took it's zenith by me finally buying a new mobo
and after it was broke for over z year i put it in yesterday night. Great surprise: The laptop still is not working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The exact same issue that all the other guys with broken mobo's illustrated. Blank screen. no boot up whatsoever and after a while the fans turning on. I removed all components and tried starting it without the ram, or cpu and hard drives. but i don't get an error message and the screen is still blank. could the replacement motherboard be bad?

Did you get a motherboard compatible with your graphics card? Certain graphics cards can only be used on certain revision motherboards.

Well, you've almost run the gamut on laptop components. Tried the screen inverter + LCD panel yet?

Mmm...well, the thing is about three years old, right? Nothing lasts forever. Weird that you've owned the 'puter for so long but your first and only post is to say what a terrible computer AW makes. As much as we'd like to believe a computer knows exactly when to break (like when the warranty's up), I don't think that's the case. Surely there were symptoms of a failure before hand.

Look at the bright side. Time for a new AW, or you can buy another computer for a lot less and get what you pay for

*still diggin' my AW*

Make sure the replacement mobo is the correct voltage for your video card is defiantly a must. Like revision A or B or whatever it is. Give us some updates too, we would love to help.

Simply asking for help gets you way further in life.

many people here know a lot about this subject so just ask questions....it is a known problem that those notebooks (not just the AW version) had/has problems.

i believe in not buying expensive electronics that way when they die/break I won't feel so bad. :O

What components does Alienware make on this system again?I'm just wondering if your buddy at Best buy can help me with a few Vista driver issues? Those Best Buy guys don't mess around!
Actually . I think Alienware uses a program to brick your computer the day your warranty expires.Damn Alienware!

Yeah, until I went to BestBuy I had no idea that you needed a 24k Gold Plated 26 foot long USB cable that cost $46.99 in order to use any USB device with Windows Vista.

It was a poor attempt at sarcasm.
His problem has nothing to do with Alienware yet every computer issue people have is Alienwares fault. It gets tiresome.
GO ROT IN HELL he says because he has an issue after 3 years.pffft.
I actually like to help people with their computer issues but when you come to an Alienware forum (where almost everyone owns an Alienware) and slam Alienware because a certain component of your hardware fails after 3 years(none of it made by Alienware i might add)
I lose interest in helping and resort to the arsehole i am.

You're right, I see a lot of complaining from Alienware owners. Jeez, if they only knew how much work is put into each and every single computer that Alienware ships out. And we can't forget that sometimes things fail (er..hem..even after 3 years), nothings perfect.

What an arsehole you is!!!

OP has the OP and that's it. Not looking for help, didn't buy a new mainboard (IMO)...OP is a troll. Clue? "I removed all components and tried starting it without the ram, or cpu and hard drives. but i don't get an error message and the screen is still blank. could the replacement motherboard be bad?" Hee, hee, hee. This guy replaced CPU, HDDs and RAM modules one at a time and knew what he was doing (giving up the benefit of the doubt)?

Best Buy Buddy? That be your basic BBB action rite there (BBBBB). Why do we care if they live in Phoenix, AZ? Rot in Hell? Wow. Quite the marroon. Oh and Killin' Me no boudt adout it!!!

I call BS.

Didn't think the OP was going to get much sympathy here.

Where's Hammerhead when we need him. I miss the pictures he has for these situations.
