Battery Not Charging!

Good Afternoon,

I own an HP Pavilion dv6409us laptop. It's about 4 months old.

The last time I used the computer was 3 weeks ago. The computer's battery was also empty. Today, when I turned it on, I saw that it doesn't want to charge.

It says: 1% available (plugged in, not charging). I replaced the battery, but it still doesn't want to charge. I also tried to calibrate while it's off, but it doesn't want to charge.

Please help me, where is the problem? I chatted with HP support, but they don't say anything.

I appreciate your responses.

Thanks you, Gery.

Does the normal indicator light up? e.g. AC and Charging?

If everything works normally, it is possible the motherboard's charging ckts are toast.

Eh? I am not quite sure what you mean...you guys talked and they said nothing? As a 4 month old notebook, it is under warranty through HP! There need to be only two avenues of discussion: 1. It is something user-fixable...or 2. Where and how to send it in so that they may honor their warranty, and repair/replace it as needed.

My suspicions lie with avenue #2.

It could be either the battery, or within the notebook, but it is not likely that it will be something that you can repair/replace on your own (unfortunately).

quoted from hp:
" Fixes
# Resolves intermittent issue where the scroll function for the internal touchpad does not function.
# Resolves issue that occurs with some battery packs where the battery cannot be charged if the battery capacity is empty. "

Known issue on completely different hardware: On my RC car in early 90's the same did happen when dead flat cells were put into the charger. I had to give a little voltage kick into the battery (from car battery charger) to get the fine automatic charger to recognize the empty cells.
