The nForce 780i and 790i chipsets are NVIDIA's latest contribution to the PC gaming enthusiast and SLI lover.

The intent of this thread is to give system builders a "one stop" reference that will include the latest information regarding 780i/790i motherboards.

Do you know any specific details about these chipsets? Post it here - along with supporting links.

NBF Desktop Mods/NBF Admins - please post any updates you deem appropriate.

Official release date of the 780i was 17 Dec 2007

1. 780i = DDR2 (tri-SLI)

There has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the Egg's and Tiger's prices on the EVGA reference board. The MSRP of the EVGA board is $259. Newegg and TigerDirect both had it up to $339 at one point. Shoppers started complaining, and each site has had it listed and de-listed several times.

MotherboardPro is a site I would consider shopping, as well as ClubIT.

I'm almost ready to start searching for parts. This is quite an exciting time for new technology.

Listing/de-listing is most likely due to selling out when they are in short supply. Newegg is known for adjusting prices based on scarcity. Same thing happened at first with the Q6600s. Newegg has the EVGA 780i board in stock again @ $299, same price as Asus P5NT-Deluxe.

EVGA is in stock at zoom too for 279. Striker II formula is out of stock though at 379 .

The FTW from EVGA appears to be a nice board. I would look for the prices of reference boards to drop once it's released and the Striker II is readily available.
