PS3 Losing as much as ever

"According to simExchange's predictions, they believe the Xbox 360 sold 1.45 million consoles in December with the Wii moving 1.73 million and the PS3 selling 854,000 consoles. And if their estimates are correct, then we must give the 360 a pat on the back for keeping its distance from the PS3 and closing the gap on Wii sales, even if there were "shortages"."

Avoiding the "Which is the truly better console" debate, it is clearly obvious who is losing the war.......

Except the PS3 was never intended as a game console

Numbers do not equal greatness. And you are really pushing my buttons lately after your latest activity here and in the Aw section. Consider this a warning.

Jebus just stop already. The Four of us have had this argument many times already.

You guys just aren't making sense though. It sells more, so it's not better?

Sorry, but it means it's winning. Numbers mean everything.

K, I'm done.

It had a full year head start. Compare sales in the first year with the sale of the 360.

360

December 31, 2005 1.5 million shipped
March 31, 2006 1.7 million shipped
June 30, 2006 1.8 million
September 30, 2006 0.9 million

= 5.9 Shipped Worldwide

PS3

PS3 first year = 5.59 million SOLD as of September 30, 2007

+ Blu-ray is winning the war. who's winning?????
It selling more today. Doesn't matter about last year. I didn't buy a game machine for hd-dvd or blu-ray.

Thats what sony is trying to sell ps3's for now. BLU-RAY!

Wii is winning, 360 next, ps3 last.

It's fact.

and who cares anyways, it's just numbers right

Someone needs to buy everyone a round of chill pills..........

Seriously though unless you have stock in one of the companies I wouldn't really worry about it. Buy the one you want and play it....that is what it is for.

GB, you need to align the time lines before saying "one is outselling the other".

That's like saying Ford is outselling Porsche even tho Ford was founded in 1903 and Porsche was started in 1931.

FIrst of all, we're not talking about the Wii. Second, you have yet to address the numbers I've posted, showing SALES versus SHIPPED numbers between the 360 and PS3.

Sheesh, then be done! Stop negating yourself.

EDIT: GBQ, what did you "edit?" A smiley face isn't saying much.

Warning WTF????

Why a warning? I posted holiday sales facts from another site that were reported across many reputable sites. I dont get it.

I didnt address this to anyone in specific, nor flame anyone, and it appears YOU didnt even understand the intent of the post???????

This has nothing to do with timeline comparison or lifetime sales.......
This has to do with the fact that PS3 has been out a year, there was no supply shortages, and consumers bought roughly 4 times as many Wii's and 360's as PS3. That is a verifiable fact! Why am I being warned for posting facts?

The PS3 has a year of maturity and it lost bad in this years holiday console sales. I made it very clear I wasnt posting about which console was better, just holiday sales figures.

If being outsold over the all important holiday season 2:1 each by each of your competitors isnt losing than I must be an idiot because I dont know what losing is.

I would post until banning that the original Xbox was the superior platform over PS2, yet I found my xbox collecting dust cuz all the games I wanted to play just happened to be on PS2. I still think the original xbox was the superior system, but I definitely wouldnt say it didnt lose that console generation.

I posted facts from another website, again why am I being warned?
Exactly what other posts in the AW section was I being obnoxious, flaming others, or in any way violating any forum policy?

Im not trying to challenge your authority steve, but I really dont see what exactly Im doing wrong, instead of closing my threads and possibly banning me, or warning me for that matter, PM me what you find objectionable, why, and what forum rules Im stepping across, if Im in the wrong Ill gladly attempt to modify my forum behavior.

Respectfully I disagree, if for the sake of argument we say that 360 had sold 10mil vs PS3 at 5mil units before this holiday season, but 360 outsells the PS3 2:1 over the most active hardware quarter of the year, what exactly is timeline shifting gunna make up for the fact the PS3 will never catch its competitors by being outsold on a month to month basis?

There is more to the numbers than just the numbers. The 360 had some unbelievable games get released in their 2nd year after launch, mainly Halo 3 and Mass Effect. You can only compare last years Holiday (2006-07) with the 360 to this years (2007-08) PS3. If you don't the numbers DO NOT make sense. Why is this concept so hard to understand? And both you and GB have yet to address the numbers I posted. Mainly because you both do not have anything to say about them.
