I have a PCG-Z1WA giving me some trouble. What works is The Hard Drive spins up, the cd rom opens and close, and the three indicator lights on the outside come on (Wireless, Power, Bluetooth) but THAT'S IT. The CPU fan does not come on, the lcd screen shows no image or backlight and there is no image on an external monitor.
The hard drive is new, new 512mb stick of ram(same result with or without) The ac adapter is new and working, battery holds a charge. I've checked all the connections on top of the motherboard and they appear good.
Are there connections under the motherboard I'm missing? Is my motherboard toast or is my cpu toast? Any insight would be great. Thanks notebook gurus.
