What exactly makes a Precision M4300 better than an XPS M1530?

Hi!
I am in the position to choose between the two models, with no charge for me, in change of my Latitude.
I do not play videogames and i do not use CAD, so I am not the typical user of each system. I am a medium user.
I just need great LCD, great keyboard, a solid enough chassis (not necessarily a tank), and a system as fast as possible: I want programs to open as fast as possible when I click on them, and to run as fast as possible.
Many people told me that it is silly to choose XPS if I can have Precision.
But NO ONE was able to tell me why.
Can anyone please tell me in what, when and how much a Precision M4300 is suppsed to be "better" than an XPS M1530 for a medium user like me?
Very greatfull fon any help, as this is my last chance to get what I want, and I want to be sure I will not regret...

The precision is better for what it was designed for....a mobile cad workstation for professionals who want sedate looks in an extremely well built form, with available accessories geared toward these types of people.

The XPS is better for what it is designed for....a home entertainment center that has all the latest bells and whistles, much, much better gaming performance, flashier design, bluray, hdmi etc etc.

As you don't fit into either catagory.......pick the one you like the looks of better? or go to the dell site and read the tech specs of each to find out what ports and features appeal to you more.

I won't say one is better than the other because its not true, ones only better than the other if its features serve your use better.

Uderstood, but, if I do not play games, and I do not use CAD, so, generally speaking both would be good, which should be more performant in a normal use with same configuration of ram, cpu, and HD?
Another question: if I take a good WXGA+ (LG), True Life, it is very noticeable the lesser viewing angles respect to WSXGA+?

With the same configuration excl video,I would imagine they would probably be near identicle performance wise.

There is a member on this forum who ordered a vostro with the WXGA+ screen and had it replaced with WSXGA.....he reckons the WSXGA had worse viewing angles but better colours, but the former was brighter and had better viewing angles, which is strange when dell says the sxga is an ultrasharp.......I believe a user over dell anyday given their history of inconsistent quality of screens on the same models.

Just as a side note,I remember reading a review or something about the M4300 and the person was saying the WSXGA trulife screen was 8 bit compared to the vostro/inspiron 6 bit,I haven't been able to find this info anywhere else........somehow I doubt it,but you never know.

Personally I prefer the trulife screen in my vostro over my previous precision M65,plus it plays games better.......but those are the ONLY two things I do like better,I would love to compare the M4300 trulife screen to mine to see if there is any difference.

I remember too about that post of 8 bit. Sorry, I too do not remember where I saw it...
I guess it must be in the Official M6300 thread on Notebookreview.com.
Anyway, as the WSXGA+ on the m4300 is the SEC3350, which I hate in my matte version on the D830, and many people hated in the Vostro and inspiron 8and a few also in the XPS 1530), I would stay away from it, especially if it is the only one available on that resolution (= no change possible).
While in the XPS I have the chance to get the LG, or to ask for it if I get the Samsung and I do not like it.
I would have accepted the WXGA+ on XS, but I have a doubt: in italian site the wxga and wsxga+ are indicated as "ultrasharp true life tft", while the WXGA+ is indicated as "truelife tft" only.
Do you think it is posible that a display can be true life and not ultrasharp? A woman in USA Gold Technical Support think that it is a mistake. She is sure that all True Life must be ultrasharp first.

I thought all screens below WSXGA were not ultrasharp designated,at least that is so on my local dell site.

After hearing the other member say that the WXGA+ screen had better viewing angles than the replacement wsxga ultrasharp and my own external non-ultrasharp monitor having way better viewing angles than my notebook,I sort of think the ultrasharp branding doesn't really mean that much.

I suppose if you get a lot more choice in brand of screen with the XPS [LG] then thats maybe what you should get....just for that option
