I can't seem to get the IrDA port on my new F8SV to wrok with my G3. I'm running Vista on the F8 and XP on the G3. I'm trying to transfer all of my files from my old notebook to the new one using these ports but I can't find a way to get them to read each other.
In the Control panel in XP there is a wireless icon with an infrared tab that says everything is enabled. There is not such icon in vista but the device manager does say the drivers for it are loaded. What am I doing wrong? I'm sure I'm not doing something important but there is absolutely no info in the manual about the IrDA port except for where it is physically on the notebook.
I called Asus tech support and I have to say...not impressed at all. I didn't have to wait on the phone long until I got someone but of course his English was piss poor. He asked me about 5 times whether I was sue this model even had an IR port, and had to keep telingl him of course I was sure due to the fact I was looking directly at it. He gave me a service number and said I would get either an email or call...yeah right.
