Jumped Ship --- Sort of.

Well after years of owning XPS systems. All of them did me really well i might add.

I jumped ship and bought the new AW M15x.

8800gtx
1440x900
X7900
2 gigs
200 gig HD
Feb 1, 2008 shipping date.

I was looking at the M1730, but the extra size, weight and with no 8800m in sight it drove me away.

I will still be reading up on this forum as always, and wondering how much more performance you guys/gals will pull out of the XPS's.

Well thanks for all the years of help I have recieved on this Dell forum. You guys have been a blast.

A big Cheers to you all.

Well your still in the same fleet.

Not a bad computer; on paper atleast. 1440x900 the highest you can go?

My buddy bought a new clevo.. Hasn't worked well for him at all. And it looks as cheap as hell. I was looking at them aswell. I think the 15" is more to my needs now. Travelling alot more for work these days.

I could have gone with a 1920X1200 but seeing how small it i son my 17" didn't want to risk it with my new lappy. Also I think the 1440X900 will give it a little more life when playing at Native res.

Wish it would have had a 1600X 1080 res though.
Going to do a Review once I make it home.

will be interesting to see some reviews of the 8800gtx - I have see a couple but you can't beat real reviews from an unbiased perspective.

Me i'm just about to upgrade old reliable 9400 to a 3500m - can't afford/justify to SWMBO an AW17xx or dell 1730, plus neither seems to have a graphic card solution yet above the 8700 which seems weird.

Congrats on the new machine! I'm jumping ship to the new Gateway P-6831FX with 8800GTS myself. Enjoy the new rig, looking forward to your impressions once it arrives.

I couldn't wait for Dell to announce thier plans. I went with a CLEVO (in my sig). I didn't want to wait for AW to release their m17x, and didn't want to pay extra for an alienhead.

I had never heard of that laptop until you mentioned it but WOW that's a sweet deal!!! $1350 from bestbuy for 8800gts 512 / 3GB RAM / etc???
I'm wishing I had bought one of those instead of my new e1705.

Wow, that Gateway is pretty nice considering it's price.

Gateway's out for blood-watch out Dell!.
