SLOW internet with VISTA!!??

I just installed vista home premium so I can run some DirectX 10 games and everything is great...except the fact that my internet speed SUX! I went from downloading files at 900-1100kbps to anywhere from 5-150kbps. I disabled EVERYTHING and it still doesn't work. Unistalled my Antivirus, disabled my firewall, my computer is basically the most vulnerable PC on the planet and STILL no download speed increase. I downloaded Advanced windows care and Tune up utilities 2008 and ran the internet optimization tool on both of them. My browsing speed increased from page to page but i am still getting HORRIBLE download speeds of 5-150kbps with the occassional 0kbps for like 3 seconds at a time. If I go back to XP,everything works fine. But, I don't want to have to switch to XP everytime I want to download a file. I'd rather single boot Vista...

HELP! PLEASE! I'll leave you rep!

BTW, I am connected to a router via a Hawking Hi-Gain Wifi USB adapter. So this is on a wireless network.

. restarted ur router?
. router updated?

I believe there are some updates for this kind of problem but im not sure if they were made public, have a look on http://www.shandyking.com/2007/04/18/ie-slow-vista/
