I have a customer who owns a Sony vgn-sz230p. It was showing video corruption, and was sent off for warranty service. This was denied, as it shows evidence of liquid spill. Fine, too bad for the customer.
But, in my tinkering around, I found that if I selected STAMINA rather than SPEED, it boots up w/o any video corruption, as it's likely booting w/ intel rather than the nVidia videocard.
HDD still says it's not found though. I'd like to see if it would work with a new drive, but I don't see how to take it apart. Given that it's a Sony, it's likely a frickin complete disassembly, but I wanted to ask here first:
1. Does it take a 1.8" or 2.5" drive. Core Duo implies SATA...but I'm not sure if this small of a system is using the 2.5 or not.
2. How do you get to the drive to take it out?
the system may be usable w/ a new drive and used only in the intel video...but I'd like to determine that before I call the lady back.
