Sandra & CPU-Z report 160Mhz frequency

I ran Sandra 2004 and CPU-Z 1.22 on my GX7 and they're both reporting 2X160MHz 320 Data Rate

Sandra 2004:
Chipset 1
Model : Clevo/Kapok Computer 82865G/PE/P, 82848P DRAM Controller / Host-Hub Interface
Front Side Bus Speed : 4x 200MHz (800MHz data rate)
Total Memory : 1024MB DDR-SDRAM
Memory Bus Speed : 2x 160MHz (320MHz data rate)

Anyone have any ideas why it's reporting like this. Timings perhaps? I have (2) Apacer 512 PC3200.

Are you on battery?

well, 3dmark 03 says you have 133 frequency.

I used version 1.21 of CPU-z (some utilities don't report the speed corretly). I posted my full results in my review earlier this month (Page 9 or 10, I think).

Please post the following from your run - You may have to save the results to a text file to capture and copy the data. These were my results:

Timings table
Frequency (MHz) 166 200
CAS# 2.0 2.5
RAS# to CAS# delay 3 3
RAS# Precharge 3 3
TRAS# 7 8

so do we have dual 400 mhz mem or not?

Ok guys,
I decided to research the acutal memory chips. It turns out that one of the SoDimms actually has CAS 3 chips not 2.5 like the other. Both were suppose to be 2.5.

Man...I wish the Sagers had memory timing options in the Bios.

Here's my CPU-Z timing output which confirms this.

I guess I need to contact my vendor and return the pseudo CAS 2.5 Sodimm for an actual CAS 2.5.

Two mismatched memory sticks not good for a 8790.

goodee, just when G-Omaha had me feeling like i could buy this machine dadadadaaa....now we're not sure that the ram sticks are what they should be? You think this is another "isolated incedent"? I would feel better if adam helped us out here,

Gravity, ever buy a car? Unfortunately we (the customer) have more tools available to "checkout" what we buy regarding computers than we have with cars or most anything else. "Stuff" happens all the time - "The Human Factor". Once identified, the more important issue is "Will it be fixed at no cost". If you are looking for reasons why not to buy... you will be very successful. One the other hand, you are lloking for reasons to buy, you will be equally successful. Don't think you really need anyone to "hold your hand" while you make the decision. My reviews and comments regarding the 8790 are not meant to influence a buy/no buy decision; but rather, to impart information gleened from my personal experience. As stated many time, I will be purchasing another 8790 because, IMHO, it is a "best fit" for my requirements and is available at a reasonable cost (always want something cheaper; however that just because I am real cheap).

madatgravity34,

I just wanted to make it clear that I did not purchase my RAM with my system. They were purchased through an outside vendor. An issue like this is rare and most likely would be caught by the reseller during testing.
