Before I purchase, I'd just like to make sure. The seller says it will fit almost any notebook, but I'd like a response with a little more confidence in it

I'd say so, but I have a 7700. However, this form of connector is the industry standard now. I know some dells don't use it however. I'd pop out your current drive and check it has the same connector. If so, it should auto-install the driver once you pop the drive in.

I compared and it doesn't look like the connector on the back is the same

Do you have a m5500/766 or a Sentia?
The m5500/766 has an additional “bracket” attached to the drive, be sure to remove it first– here’s how.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure which one I have, I thought they were the same, I'd have to say I have the m5500/766 I guess?

Here are some pics of my drive

Turns out this will fit

When you first remove the drive, it looks like the pictures quoted at the bottom

When you remove this adapter cover from the drive looks like these 2 pics immediately below (sorry for the pic size and cell phone clarity, I'll try and get better pics uploaded later)

Good catch. If there's an adapter, I'd say any mainstream drive will fit.
