Processor Upgrade in dell e1505

I am wondering if it is possible to upgrade my existing core duo in my Dell E1505 to a Core 2 7200. If so then would it support 4 gigs of ram?

Yes you can... and 4GB will be compatible whether or not you change out the CPU. However, note that unless you are using very memory intensive applications, you will not see much improvement in system speed over 2GB. Also note you will need a 64-bit operating system in order to address the full 4GB.

This system is BIOS/Chipset limited to about 3.25gb so upgrading to 4gb for most users a waste.

No it is not. It uses the Intel 945 chipset, which is fully capable of 4GB. As I said though, a 64-bit operating system is required in order to address the full 4GB, otherwise yes, it will be limited to 3GB and change due to other hardware such as video, etc using some of the addressable space.

As far as I know, there is no RAM BIOS limitation on this model (I have used one running 64-bit Vista with 4GB addressed before....)

but on the dell web site it said the ram was only expandable to 2 gig which i already have. my current processor now is a core duo 1.86 32 bit. are you guys sure that the core 2 wont hurt the board or anything else?

Sure won't as long as you don't mess the system up putting it in

4gb of ram is doable, I guess they just figured on Dell that you wouldn't even want more than 2gb ram.

i also wondered if there was a better video card i could put into this 1505 than just this x1400 like a x1600 or 8600 or something to that effect thats better

Nope. Video card is not so easy to upgrade. The x1400 is the best available that will fit the e1505.
