New ASUS Laptops

Thread Starter
Anybody know what the new ASUS Penryn laptops are? or have links to more info about them?

I had a z71v for the past 2.5 years and I'm looking to get a 15.4 in, 1680x1050 (WSXGA+), Penryn with a discrete nvidia GPU. My z71v's hinge just came loose (I fixed it), but it has got me thinking that I should start doing research into new laptops. What current ASUS offerings can suit these requirements? I was looking at the G1s, but ASUS has so many laptops its hard to find all of them and narrow down. I also would prefer Windows XP. (Sort of why I'm seriously considering the Thinkpad T60, see below)

Also, it seems that the Built On ASUS line is dead. There have been no product announcements in this line forever. Do I need to go Ensemble now?

I'm also thinking of the Thinkpad T60 line. I especially dig the extended battery. Can anybody dissuade me from the dark side?

Most of the notebook just require refresh bios to get the Penryn CPU working. As for Build on ASUS, yes they are dying, because they want to focus on their ensemble line. As for build on ASuS, these are the model you might find, Z37 (S37), and Z96 (S96).
