My wife has an old Inspiron 2600 laptop and I am trying to upgrade the OEM 20gb drive to my old Hitachi 7k60 drive. I have the Easy Gig II transfer kit for cloning the drives. It will no do the clone installed on that computer. I also tried Gparted and it also will not even boot up.
So I took out her OEM HD and put it in an external case and used a desktop and DriveImageXML to get the clone done.
I completed the clone, but when I install the new HD in the dell it locks up during startup on the first blue XP loading screen.
I started over and used Easy Gig II and recloned the HD again, it also locks up during startup.....
I am out of ideas on what to do, I have cloned many HP hd upgrades on my laptops with no problems and also desktops... This is the first that I can't get..
Am I missing something with the dell 2600? I am not sure on the specs of what hard drives will work in the 2600, maybe that has something to do with it?
