well I did the CPU , Display upgrades. and added my second 160 GB HD now running Raid 0

Tried to see the GPU and took a shot of the MB from the top, under neath the keyboard.

looks likes the GPU is mounted on the main baord, not a daughter card.

I will post some pictures later, and the new benchmarks

thats turning into one quick laptop, looks great

whats the warranty like?
base warranty is one year

I bought a second year from Best buy which also includes the battery.

For a few dollars more they also have a complete Care type warranty.

This Model can not have a warranty extension from Gateway - it ust be purchased from the retailer

Quite frankly above statement about the graphic card is the most disappointing moment of this year. I was looking forward to swap the GC for GTX in the future. Have the screen mod done, Two 120GB 7200rpm drives are arriving tomorrow( bought it from Geeks.com btw, $49each ). Will order t9300 in coming week and now this .

As far as I`ve seen the dimensions of the cards are quite the same so question is...how well soldered is the card or is there actual PCI Express x16 slot on the MB?
If there is one, THERE IS A HOPE

PS: Dave-P, tnx for keeping post alive

here is the picture I was talking about.

It was taken from the view under neath they keyboard

left side of the laptop

Could just be the Heat Sink Mount and there still maybe a socked GPU on the under side.

There's something wrong when your BURST speed is not faster than your MAX SPEED. I think this test failed.

So XP drivers have been found and work on the laptop including Sound

improved my 3Dmark06 scores

I am confused here. There is HDTune mark at the beginning of this threat from GoHack and burst speed is slower then max as well . Isn`t the MAX speed actually showing the highest numbers from the test? I am just guessing here, Steve, really haven`t ran any HD benches b4 but as long as I am rerunning mine, burst is always lower than MAX value.

Anyway it`s still lot more faster than stock and that`s what matters the most at this time . Appreciate your attention though, Steve. Please, keep me posted if I am(we`re) doing something wrong.

You're guessing what?

Maybe you should read my 14 reviews on NBF before you say something as silly as that.

Yes your BURST speed should ALWAYS be higher than your max.

Still don't believe me? Maybe you should go to the official website (http://www.hdtune.com/) and read the part where it says;

Quote:
An important parameter of the test is the Burst Rate. This value should always be higher than the maximum transfer rate.

A lower value is usually an indication of a configuration problem.
