Help with fingerprint reader!

Thread Starter
Hey everyone!

I just recently purchased a Dell XPS m1330 with the fingerprint reader. I was wondering if there was any possible way that you could make it so users can only log on to their accounts via the fingerprint scanner. I do not want to option of password as well, just the fingerprint reader. If anyone has any information or knows how I can do this I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks

Odd I thought the fingerprint reader could override the password on the logon screen for vista/xp thats how it works on the sony's. How does the fingerprint reader work on the m1330?

Personally, I wouldn't want it to work that way. I once burned my right index finger on a printer fuser and the burn was enough to change my print so the reader wouldn't recognize it. If the concern of passwords is users not making them complex then require they use a character map code that will generate symbols such as ™ or Þ Most Windows password cracking programs on bootable CD can't figure out these characters since the keystroke to enter them is different than what gets displayed.

However, If the M1330 uses the same software my Latitude does (Embassy Trust Suite) then I beleive you can set windows login to biometric only.
