I have a question about my WoW video performance.

My gaming laptop is the mALX. I have owned it since June-07 and have been very happy with it. However I have had a couple of problems with it:
  • Issues with the video driver could at times cause BSOD or even make booting up a challenge where I could get black screens . However Alienware has helped me with this by updating drivers (I have Vista). It is still an issue from time to time but not enough for me to reseat the graphics cards (as they once recommended).
  • Issues with WoW where the frame rates would drop into single digits or even where I would get a slight (very slight) pause while my toon was moving. This problem was consistent for months, the way I would get rid of it was to restart my computer. This problem would usually occur after I had been playing for an hour or so. Then about a month ago the problem vanished . However last week the problem came back , I think right after Blizzard's WoW patch on January 22nd. So I wownder if it is from the patch and why/how?
Does anyone have any ideas how I can go about correcting this problem? I do have the most current drivers for my vid cards, unless new ones have recently been released. Should I reseat the vid cards? Does that take glue application as I once heard?

Thanks for the help

I installed the beta drivers on the AW web site. I am no longer getting the Blue Screen of Death, Yay! However I am still having the "lag" problem after about an hour of usage. I had thought it was only apparent in WoW but now I am also noticing it when I watch TV on my computer through my SlingBox!

I have sent an e-mail about this to AW ALX support. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of this soon. Weird thing is that this problem was gone for well over a month and then came back. Is it due to a Vista update or what?

This is starting to get on my nerves....

Check you network settings for your adapter

also run a progam like spybot or add aware to make sure no spyware is on your system running in the background

Finally and this is a big one, check your computers media center (if you have vista home premium) for its online spotlight programs and see if they are updating while you play. for example my MCE 2005 came with tvtonic and downloads previews for about 10 web cast shows whenever a iinternet connection is detected automatically
some of which are over 200 megs
