9700 and COD4 - What's going on???

Hey guys. Recently I did a Futuremark test on my 9700 and got about a score of 9000. Now I have been trying to play COD4 on my system, but the performance isn't too good.

So now the question is, how does COD4 run on your guys 9700's? What are your settings like and how is your FPS?

I'd really appreciate the input, because I'm trying to figure out where the problem may lie in the performance I'm getting.

Even when I turn resolution to 800x600 and put everything on lowest settings it can't run at 60FPS. Despite changing the settings again and again to see what works best, it doesn't seem like there is even too much of a difference in performance from high to low. Any suggestions?

Here is my system which has since been upgraded to 2gb crucial ram from newegg.com

This is really strange. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling your drivers yet, scarface??

What video card drivers are you using?

one thing that I see is you have 512 mb ram put another gig in that puppy!!

Oh, didn't see the memory...

Riddic LS1 is right, for a modern game you're going to need more memory than that. Should be able to get a 1G stick fairly cheap. You'll need at least a Gig of memory, preferably 2, but 1 or 1.5 will do much better than 512. I bet your hard drive light is on when playing, meaning it's using the hd to store info in the pagefile rather than the much, much faster memory...

Yeah, and I don't think you can get a score of 9000 on 3dmark06 with 512. just a heads up.

If you've upgraded to 2G memory already, then I'd pursue vid card drivers. Newer games are all released with a recommended driver, as new drivers have profile info for new games and can have some tweaks to avoid issues.

laptopvideo2go.com, get a new driver and modified INF file, unzip the driver and put the modified INF file into the driver folder, then install. See if that helps.
