!NOW! Dual 8800 GTX Cards In XPS M1730 from DELL! - Page 2

Canceling my Sager 9262 order and placing my order through dell now for the M1730. Thank you so much for the update! I just submitted my Sager order a couple days ago but luckily it still has not shipped yet.

I was afraid I would have panic attacks after I got away from the CompleteCare coverage on my current M1710 and this provides just the solution. Intel Core 2 Extreme, SLI 8800M GTX, Blu-Ray, 64GB SSD + 200GB HD and 4yr CompleteCare here I come!

Is that the part#? Can I call up Dell an get 'em to send me one for $1000? Anybody have any idea when this will be the case? With the 9700/9800 (I think it was that card swap) it was immediately available as a spare part, since Dell 'promised' the upgrade; however, the 7800/7900 was hell to get (again, I think I'm getting these right), and I had to call up a guy named Mark Lenning @ Dell and place the order directly with that Sales Rep since NO OTHER sales dude claimed even to have HEARD of such an upgrade...they had been shipping new puters with the upgraded cards for like 6 months before they were widely available as spare parts, ffs...

Anyhow, since Dell 'promised' a '150watt' upgrade card in the future (since they basically knew the 8700SLI sucked donkey nutz and wasn't any faster than the 1710's setup), I sincerely hope the first scenario is the one we'll be looking at...any word, or should I start calling Mark and leaving voice messages again, heh?

At least they are somewhat close to someday shipping now that I've bitched at them in this thread, eh? Beautiful timing, you have to admit...

WOOHOO...?

Replacement parts shouldn't have $ amount. Atleast it didn't have it on my replacement parts from Dell. Hope they don't charge you for it.

Mine always have and the total on the invoice says $0.00. Even my replacement battery has a dollar amount.

Strange, I've just replaced parts for my system, got 5 different parts along with invoice in it, don't see any $ in there though.

Anyways, enjoy the card. Some what feel bad for those who got 1720's after reading your replacement lol.

yeah I went back and check all of my other replacements and they all have a $ amount. Yeah I feel for them also. I sure am lucky and thank RickyBronco for all his help.

That's pretty pricey. I got my XPS on the 27th of December so at first I was upset that I couldn't upgrade to this at that time.

The irony is that the price they're charging configured exactly the same as mine except with the 8800GTXs is significantly more. Even paying $1000.00, I will still save money in comparison to the current price and have the 8700s as a paperweight.

I'm glad I bought the system when I did.

I have been dealing with someone here in the states for my system exchange and I have his direct number and email address. I did it all through email =).

If I were some of you, I'd wait on these for a bit. I just noticed that the price for 2 GTX's in Canada is still 600 instead of 1000, so it may be a price adjustment to reflect demand.

Also, wtf with base XP systems costing $200 more than Vista???????????

I just configured a M1730 with the 8800GTX Sli for $ 3500.00 CDN

hmmm Could I do this with out the Wife finding out lol

Because with XP the system is so much faster, for some unknown reason.
(There trying to make it like it is a better config. They think Vista is faster )

Man I feel you pain but mine is a bit less. My 8800 sli card has an estimated ship date of 2/4/08. Worst of all is it is coming straight to me and I have to wait for a tech to come install it. I can do it myself but since they have a tech coming out I dont want to incase they void my warranty cause I did it myself. Meh.
