e1705 with a bluray drive possible?

I was just wondering if it is possible to put a bluray drive in the e1705.
It's a customizable option on the xps 1710 which means it should work perfectly with an updated bios.
The XPS M1710 and E1705 use the same parts...including the motherboard, graphics card, and the sturdy case as far as I know.
I would think it would be as easy as swapping the dvd drives as usual, but I wanted to double check before I went and bought an expensive drive.

the m1710 mobo and bios are different.

the e1705 can use a BD or HD DVD drive but not easily if you have a gfx card that doesn't support HDCP. i.e the 7950gtx.

if you have not the 7950 you have to do some real hardcore hacking of the HDCP and graphics drivers to make it work.

12 hours of constant work I got my m1710 with a 7900gtx working with my 7900gtx

I also got raid working in it.

So if I do the 7950gtx upgrade, which is pretty easily done, a bluray drive would work perfectly fine then?
Just making sure as I had already planned to do the 7950gtx upgrade, so having bluray would just be an extra perk to doing the upgrade =)

I believe the key is the 7950GTX card which supports HDCP - this is needed for the device to be happy your not hacking the video signal.

Although as suggested anydvd will remove the copy protection for HD DVD's including Bluray until BD+ is activated.

FYI, BD+ is activated.

and I am using an exploit in older versions of pdvd + anydvd to watch and copy BD+ discs and playthem back to my HDD.

I can also copy them to a BD_-R (backup of course ) and watch them on my s300
