Phenom B3 is just a bug fix, no additional gains expected

There has been a lot of fuzz surrounding the Phenom B3 stepping and what it would bring. If we ever made you believe that it would be anything but a pure bug fix, we're sorry, it was never intended. The TLB bug has been a real killer for AMD. The media, including us, were quick to report on this bug, which by itself is harmless for desktop users, but it unfortunately requires a crippling BIOS fix. Media-wise, the TLB bug is of the highest priority and it will be fixed with the B3 stepping, no additional performance is to be expected.

Last we heard this will be the final Bx stepping, but according to new reports there is a B4 stepping on the way and it should be out in Q2 already. This stepping will then improve the overclocking potential of the Phenom series. By how much remains to be seen but it can hardly get much worse.

I was really waiting to jump into the AMD Quad core camp, but after dropping the F Socket, and the limited choice of a buggy 9500 or 9600 Phenom, and combined with the fact that even after several months there still is not Fullly compatible motherboard that supports Sli and all the features of the CPU out, is making me re-consider going back to intel. AMD has really dropped the ball on this one
