8800m GTX Sli benchmarks - Page 2

those crysis benches are bullshit.

my buddy has SLI 8800 ULTRA's and can't even get that high on VERY HIGH 1900x1080 on his VIERA plasma. and his ULTRAS are OC'd with a over 1400 watt's of PSU and 275 watt peltier

Tell you buddy that he needs a girlfriend!!! Lol jk man. Well I'm wondering what a single 8800 will do if they ever put that puppy in the 1730. Anyone have any ideas?

Crysis serious is a pig as far as graphics go. Does Crysis support PhysX? that may explain why its kicking your buddies SLI ultra's a$$
post #24 of 37
Usually most PhysX benchmarks actually show lower fps due to the fact that the GPU actually has to render more on the screen. The whole idea is to offset usage of the CPU for physics and add more realism to the scene. That added realism puts more objects/particles in the scene.

But AFAIK, Crysis doesn't support PhysX.

If you look I went back yesterday and clarified Crysis what on High not Very High.

Can you run those benches @ the default 3DMark06 settings? aka 1280x1024.

Even with that change, it still looks too good to be true. Desktops with dual 8800GT's in SLI struggle to even get 30 fps at 1920x1080 resolution at High.

i hate that game brings all pc and laptops to his knees, i will wait for some hardware that can handle it
post #33 of 37
I liked the game. kinda blows when playing it on 3007WFP LCD, res set at 1200x800 (most setting@ high-like shaders)
Well maybe Zyb runs with a custom config, you can optimize the game so much. I recently tried a config that put Crysis to look like Very High and I managed to run the game with my dual 8700m GT with bad framerates, though they were from 15-20 fps and that at 1680x1050.

So I assume Zyb without any problem can run that config I have that looks very good at 1920x1200 with at least 30 fps

Damn Zyb I envy you, I will definitely buy the 8800m GTX soon, I have only owned my XPS M1730 in about a week

I'm considering for the upgrade, but really don't see the need for it now.

Let's see some Crysis !!!
3D mark Next will be the challenge though. It supports Shader Model 4.

Another thing I was thinking about was this: A pair of 7950GTX's from Ebay currently costs around $800. And off of the Dell website, easily $1000+. I don't think the 8800 SLI prices are too bad for how new of a technology they are. My rig is holding up fairly well, and I couldn't get an M1730 until next Spring, even if I wanted to.

TT have you decided not to go with the WUXGA upgrade?

I saw in your sig, you may do it, so i was J/W

I had some cash burning a hole in my pocket...got cold feet though. It was planned primarily as a "raise the resale value" tactic, as there are obviously no other advantages to having one. I don't watch blu-ray or any kind of high-def content, and next gen video games are going to get harder and harder to run. Even with my puny 1440x900. The only thing that would change my mind would be if I could find one for around $100, and we both know that isn't going to happen.
