After suffering though the first part of its life bound to a SLI setup consisting of two GeForce 8700M GTs Dell's gaming galloper the XPS M1730 is finally on the verge of seeing the light and getting some real muscles. As just announced the gaming laptops are now ready to welcome the GeForce 8800M GTX which is available as an option, for starters just in the US.

The addition of the 8800M GTX SLI option helps the XPS M1730 reach a score of 13,500 points in 3DMark06, almost 50% better than what the 8700M GT pair can return.

"The XPS M1730 has been recognized as the standard for gaming laptops," said Glen Robson, head of Dell’s XPS Group."With the addition dual GeForce 8800M GTX graphics with NVIDIA SLI technology, the XPS M1730 delivers DX10 gaming performance approaching high end desktops."

The 8800M GTX (SLI) can now be purchased in the US with Europe and other countries set to get it soon while the upgrade option for those who have the 8700M GT versions will become available at a later date.
