The RC will fry your system! Wait for the official release.

I just noticed that the XP SP3 release candidate is available for public download here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en . Is it worth installing now or should I wait until the official version?

you'll have to uninstall SP3 RC's when you install the final, so I would just wait

Yeah i would wait also, and if you have any theme managers like style xp they will not work after.

Also if anyone reading this fancies installing it, just remember to back up your vital data/pics/mp3s and stuff. You never know what could go wrong, not saying it will but just as a precaution.

thanks for the info! I didn't know either of those. Guess I'll wait for the official version then.

I installed a beta release and my style xp stopped working complaining that it was'nt designed to work with that version of windows.

had on since day one, no issue so far (knock on wood) - seemed to boot start quicker, noticeable!

cheers ...

Weird, I didn't notice this thread until now.

Don't install an RC of a service pack. If you have an issue, it could be a BIG issue.

I've had the Beta installed for months and its been working perfectly. I cant remember teh last time I got a BSOD.

I would wait. The service pack may be the same across the board, but it will affect different computers differently. Thus, I would wait for a more compatible (official one most likely) to have the utmost compatibility w/ you pc or laptop. In short, don't risk it.

looks like you got more no's than yes'es even though you poll shows otherwise. Probably due to your wording. The RC might not "fry" your puter, but is still not the best idea for a home user.
